Be there for every moment

What is documentary wedding photography?

Documentary wedding photography is a style of photography that aims to tell the story of your wedding day with a photojournalistic hands-off approach. It's the art of noticing little moments and artfully curating them to tell the story of the day. There is no posing for staged photos for hours or pausing to redoing things multiple times just to get the perfect image. The result is images that capture the feeling and emotion of the day and a couple that got to live in the moment of their wedding day.

My style and approach

to documenting a wedding day

If I had to describe my style it would be non-traditional, candid, with bit of editorial flair thrown in. Being non-traditional doesn't mean I won't photograph your details (they are part of the story too) or take family portraits (we almost always do), but it does mean I am a better fit for couples who like to do things a bit outside of the box.

I am like a fly on the wall for most of your day. Being there when you need me and silently in the background when you don’t. I focus on candid images of you and your guests, your details in the context of your day, images that tell the whole story - even when the story gets a little crazy. While lots of my couples still want a few couple and family portraits, its not uncommon for me to photograph entire weddings 100% documentary. If this is something the speaks to you than I am absolutely here for it.

My couples value imperfectly perfect moments and understand that great stories happen organically when amazing people come together. They know that a perfectly staged photo will never have the same emotion as a real moment, and they want the real memories. They know that what makes your day meaningful is the people you choose to share it with and they want to be there to share in every moment. If this sounds like you, well then we might be a great fit!

Stories rooted in what matters most.

Beautiful moments happen in the in-betweens. The love, the joy, and the perfectly imperfect. It's your day so soak it all in, live every moment, and spend as much time being present as you can. I will be there to document your story unobtrusively and honestly.

Full-day coverage starts at $5400 and includes 8 hours with Jessi and an album.

Elopements start at $1370 and micro weddings (less than 50 guests) start at $2680.

A + J

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Jessi! She did both our engagement session and our wedding photography. She really listened to what we wanted, our style, and our vision for the wedding. She has a way of putting everyone at ease, and it results in beautiful photos that are full of life rather than stiff portraits. She is organized, responsive, flexible, kind, and her services are fairly priced for the incredible service and product you will receive!

Are you LGBTQIA+ friendly?

Absofreakinlutly yes.

How do we book?

A signed contract and a $1500 deposit will lock in your date and you are offically booked! The remainder of your package amount is due 30 days prior to your wedding.

Can we print our own photos?

Yes, you can! At the bottom of every gallery I include a print release. That way you can get your photos printed from wherever you want.

Do you take traditional family portraits?

I don't showcase them on my website but family formals are an important part of weddings. I do always take them!

Is sales tax included?

Yes it is!

Do you have insurance?

I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate and I can send it over.

Do you take detail shots?

I do! But not in the traditional sense. I photograph details in the context of the day. You shoes on your feet, your bouquet in your hands, your rings on your fingers.

How many photos do we receive?

It varies depending on the events of the day but you can expect about 75 edited images an hour.

How long until we receive our photos?

I deliver previews within 48 hours of your wedding date. The full gallery usually comes in at the 3-4 week mark.

Do you shoot film or digital?

I love film but I shoot digital for weddings. I do have a slightly filmy look to the way that I edit though. Every wedding I show up with 3 bodies and lots of lenses, just in case anything breaks I have backups.
